Using other punctuation
I am learning when to use other punctuation
e.g. comma, exclamation mark, question mark, apostrophe, speech marks
Guess what i did after school? I went to Dino School Celebration. We had dinosaur cupcakes. We had yummy food! We had brown bags. We all got dinosaur eggs then we went home.
I am proud of myself because I know how to use a question mark and an exclamation mark.

Adding detail
I am learning to add some detail to my writing.
The Lonely Whale
One
day whale came to play with someone. He didn’t want to be alone. But someone
came to play and yes they did.
Sometimes it is easy to add detail to my story and sometimes it is a bit tricky. I don't always know what to say.

St John Visit
Mac from St John came to talk to the children at Elm Park School about safety and first Aid. He brought his mini ambulance Amby along with him. Mac taught Room 11 about who to call when there is an emergency. We looked at different pictures and had to decide if we needed to call for the police, the firemen or an ambulance. We had actions that we had to do to show Mac that we knew who to call!

Shape Monster
I am learning to name and describe plane shapes.
We are learning about Geometry in Room 11. We are learning to name plane shapes and to say how many sides and corners the shape has. We created shape monsters and wrote a description about them.
I liked colouring in my shape monster. It was hard to remember how many sides it had when I wrote my story.

Count on from the largest number
I am learning to count on from the largest number.
I like using tens frames. I can see how many counters I need to fill up the tens frame. Then it is easy to count the counters.
Recognising blends
The Dragonflies are learning to recognise blends as they are reading.
I can find words that start with 'sh', 'gr', 'wh' and 'th'. Sometimes it is hard to find the words. I have to read it again and again and then I find the words.

Youthtown
Room 11 has been going to Youthtown this term. We have been learning how to throw a ball at a target. We learned that you need to have your one arm in an L shape ready to throw the ball. The other arm needs to be pointing at the target. Then we have to do a power throw and try to hit the target. Sometimes we hit the cones and sometimes the ball goes in a different direction.
Word Cloud
I am learning to use describing words in my writing.
It was hard to think about the words. Mrs Mason helped me. I made my words into a lizard.

Reading Term One
I am learning to sound out words as I read.
I think sounding out words is hard. I can sound out in my head and doing the robot.

Writing Term One
I went drifting. "Oh! Oh! Where did Mum go?" said Dad. "Oh well."
I am learning to sound out words in my writing and underline my try words.
Reflection
It is hard to underline my try words. The sounding out was hard too. I am going to get better!

Self-Portrait
I have been learning how to draw my self-portrait. First Mrs Scott came to show us how to sketch our face. We sketched our face shape first. Then we drew our guidelines to help us remember where our eyes, nose, mouth and ears went. We practised using a whispering pencil and a shouting pencil. Our first sketch looked a bit funny so we tried again. This time we used a photo of us to help us. We had to start all over again! Miss Radue then helped us rub out all the whispering pencil guidelines and photocopied our sketches so they were bigger. We had to go around our sketch with vivid and then we used pastel to colour in our self-portraits. It was hard work but we had a lot of fun!
